Hey everyone,
Its been a while since I last posted and I am sorry for that! A lot of different thing lead to my inactivity, but lets get going once more. I want to sum up the reason for my inactivity as well as all the important information for you very quit and then directly start with League related content. The biggest problem in the last months was that I had to work in shifts and therefore training was lacking as well as the time to write (good) articles. In addition I had to figure out what is going on outside of the game in view of my career. But here I am now back with a changed team and also something like a coach/analyst will support us. So since the last time I posted the rooster changed once again. The only constant thing in life is change – so true. From the people you guys already know only Kim, Günni and me stayed and Markus aka Time4Pain as well as Kilian aka Sentoo joined our team. The new rooster looks like this: Hashtag Günni in the Toplane, Markus aka Time4Pain in the Jungle, me back on my main position Midlane and Kim our long time ADC found a new support in Sentoo. May some of you remember one of our founding members Mr. Konsti aka Scallywag. He is going to support me with an external view as we try to analyze our games in a post-production and maybe you will hear from him from time to time. The new times for our training are Sunday and Monday from 20:00 pm until 22:00/23:00 pm. Sometimes we will start a little earlier, but if we do I will let you know. In addition from now on I am going to stream every training session (in German). Okay that’s it with the organizational stuff, lets jump into League related content. We started training some time ago and a rather irregular basis as all of has had not played a lot of League lately, but with the new start of our training we got enthusiastic for LoL once more. Before our latest trainings session we played already two sessions. Out of the six games we won 3 so a win rate of 50% is not to bad, but the way we lost was devastating. After the session on Monday were we lost 2 out of 3 games we discussed our problems and tried to come up with possible solutions and approaches on how to solve this problems. As we play we win in a stomp or get stomped pretty hard and in our discussion we identified some major problems in our playstyle, which are: reacting than acting, playmaking tendency and over all game plan ignorance. Let’s take a closer look at these three problems:
Depending on the phase of the game, the power spikes and the pressure created by the enemy team you have to adapt your game play like roughly pointed out with the camp the Ornn example. I am not going into more detail on what happens when, that maybe a topic for another post. With all of this in mind we started our two trainings days on Sunday and Monday and you could already see improvements. I want to show you how it worked out in a video analysis of one of our games. SPILER ALTER In that special game I failed greatly at point 2 :D Best Derd

Hey folks, as I pointed out in my last post that we failed in terms of warding. Today I am going to elaborated a little further on this topic in order to improve our warding in our training later today. Warding is a very important aspect of the game and everyone on the team has to contributed to it. The most power full weapon in the vision department is the pink ward as it has no limited lifespan and can detect and turn off surrounding vision wards. In addition good warding is a team effort and communication is the key to effective warding. Let’s take a closer look on potential pink ward spots and who is in charge for which area of the map in terms of warding. This map is just for the early to mid game stages since vision needs to be moved around as the objectives grow in priority. Today I am not going to look at each individual role, but I just give a rather broad overview. Each position is assigned to a certain area in terms of vision as you can see in the pictures below. The first picture shows potential pink ward spot for the blue side and the second one for the red side. As you can see each role is represented by a certain color (Toplane = Blue, Jungle = Yellow, Midlane = cyan, ADC = Black and Support = Green) One principle that you should keep in mind is: every jungle entrance should be warded at all times! As I pointed out communication is the key to achieve a good layering of vision and each player has to support his team mates. For example mid cannot cover both entrances with pink wards and therefore the Junlger should place his pink on the other side of the Midlaner in an standard scenario. In addition the vision evolves around the game and needs to be moved accordingly to your game plan. The picture below shows an example for an aggressive Toplane like for example Gnar or Jayce on blue side. Gnar as well as Jayce have a strong laning-phase and want to dominate their lane opponents. This dominance leads to certain disadvantages and advantages. As these lanes are pushing they are vulnerable to ganks and need vision to avoid them as well as jungle support to punish the enemy Toplaner and Jungler when he wants to help out his Toplaner. As a result Midlane is going to put its pink ward in the small bush towards topside and the Jungler is also focusing his vision around the enemy’s red side while Toplane is warding the Tribush. As a result the Toplane river should be dark for the enemies and therefore the Jungler can move freely between mid and top side as well as invade the enemy’s red jungle. In addition when the enemy Jungler makes an attempted toward Toplane he should be spotted and the team can react to it or the Toplaner can just back off. This focus on Topside means Botlane is limited to their vision tools. As the botlane Tribush is rather contested and the pink ward of the ADC should last as long as possible he should ward the own jungle entrance at the red buff and the support is responsible for the pink ward coverage at the Tribush. I hope we manage to improve in this area tonight and I am going to focus on the warding in my trainings recap later this week. See you tonight and have a good day Derd Ey jo Folks, on Tuesday we had our first trainings session in a while and lets put it like this I did not went very well. We played five games and lost 4, but could end the trainings session with a win. On Thursday the team was back in shape and the concentration on every member was much higher then on Tuesday which was a main factor for our successful training. Since the beginning of this project a lot has changes. As I pointed out in previous posts, Kiwi and Marlon left our team due to time issues. Therefore Günni swapt into the support role and Konsti started as our midlaner. After the trainings session on Tuesday we decided to swap me from top to midlane and Konsti into top. He favors a bullying playstyle with a tendency for split-push and from his own statement roaming is not something he really loves to do as he wants to punish his opponent as much as possible by taking his farm and minions when he leaves lane. With these changes we went into our training yesterday (Thursday). This training went quit well we won 2 out of 3. In terms of the session on Tuesday I could write a novel why we lost the games and to summarize it nothing fit together. Nearly everyone on the team died over and over again, when we did a good move, we went for kills rather than taking objective and we over-chase for kills afterwards and died then to the respawn and finally lost the objective we came for in the first place. As you could guess the enemies snowballed out of these situations and since we never were able to concentrate and group we lost. In addition our team combs were rather interesting to put it like this. The first game we lost again to an early aggressive Xin and also to a Zed that got ahead and after he got 3 kills it felt like nothing would stop him and nothing did stop him. The second game our bot lane just got demolished and from there we never grouped or create opportunities for Kim to reach a point where he could do damage. The third game of the night we lost in champion select, as we saw Nunu and Kog’Maw were open, so we first picked this duo and planned on playing around it. As we got a Veigar in the Midlane, which fits quite well into the team, my toplaner should have offered some protection to our Kog, but I picked Akali. Fail to say the least and as a result we had literally no team that fits together in the slightest. The last game of the night was a win were nearly everything was back to normal and we stomped our opponents as they went for a Twitch jungle and with effective communication and smart plays we could avoid nearly all his gangs, which lead to a useless jungle rat. Lets take a look on Thursday. The first positive aspect was the draft phase. We discussed what we want to play and what we need for our team combo and picked accordingly. Especially a really good Gnar pick from Konsti helped us to secure the wins. But also our botlane was back in shape and won or went even in all games. While Markus was also lost in the jungle on Tuesday as he tried new picks he went back to his beloved champions and carried as usually. For me being back in the Midlane was a good thing. I instantly felt more confident and I know what to do and when to roam. I will focus a little bit more on the roaming aspect when we talk about the individual positions in future posts, but it is so different to play from mid than to play from top just by the distances. But while we still won two out of three games on Thursday I identified a big issue we have to face and that is warding. Especially in the fourth game of the night we had never vision control and our opponents outclassed us and they deserved the win. As you can see in the picture below the numbers of our opponents in view of warding exceed ours big times. It felt like there was a pink ward in every bush. I am going to take a closer look on this game next week and pinpoint our problems in a game analysis. I guess we need to get back on track with our new comb, but I am very optimistic that we will get back on track in the next weeks. But for now we have to get Konsti back into Gold in Flex as Kim is already Plat and with all the changes to the system it is not possible to play team ranked together :/ But its weekend so we have some time :P
I hope you got a good overview of our trainings session J At the moment I try to get my Twitch settings ready and then I am going to stream our trainings as well as my daily sessions of gaming I will give you an update on this as everything is working in the way I want it to work. See you on Sunday and good luck in your own ranked games, Derd Hey everyone,
its been a while, but I am back and have more time to focus on my blog 😊, I am finally a bachelor! Okay first, I am going to give you a short update about the team itself. I already introduced Markus as our new Jungler and Günni as our new Supporter. Unfortunately, also Marlon had to leave the team due to a lack of time. His slot is filled by Konstantin “Whoopdedoo” as our new Midlaner. As a result to all this changes we are back to our starting point and need to find our synergy again. This Sunday (28.01.2018) I am going to start with the already promised elaboration on the different strategies you can follow as a team. Below you can find the schedule for the next weeks: 28.01.2018 Basics about building up a team (Draft phase) 02.02.2018 Recap on the trainings sessions 04.02.2018 Main focus: Power level teamcombo 09.02.2018 Recap on the training sessions 11.02.2018 Main focus: Team fighting 16.02.2018 Recap on the training sessions 18.02.2018 Main focus: Splitpush 1-4/1-3-1 See you around this Sunday 😊 Best Derd Good day everyone 😊
Normally today I would upload a new game analysis, but I have some other information for you and how I will schedule my blog for the next weeks over the Christmas time. First of all I am sorry to say that Bianca ‘Maybe Kiwi’ is leaving our team. She did not fell well in the team and could not find her spot. I want to say thank you Kiwi for your support 😊 So if anyone is looking for a kick-ass support just ask her :P. Therefore Markus ‘Time4Pain’ will join our team. Günni will swap from the Jungle on the bot lane and support Kim and our team as the support. His Champion-Pool is more aggressive and therefore we are going to see how we restructure the team combs. Markus will join us and we will see if I go into the jungle to impact the team from there or if I stay Top and Markus is going to jungle. More information on him will follow in the next days. Okay since we have no trainings anymore and there is little competitive footage for me to analysis I will not analyze game until our first training next year. But I will not be lazy and will write some theoretical information about team combs every Sunday and if I have some nice soloq material I will keep you posted about my personal training 😊 That it for the moment and I hope you tune in next week to the first theoretical lesion on team fight combos 😊 Since next week is already Christmas I wish you all a happy Chrsitmas time Your Derd Good day to everyone!
I finished my short game analysis. In the video I shortly explain why we chose our team combo and then I show you a play were we did everything right :) I hope you enjoy :P The way to the video -----> BÄM Best Derd Hey guys,
I am sorry I did not post a game analysis on Sunday, but this bachelor thesis is killing me and my time :D But I promise it won’t happen again! But lets get to the important stuff – our Tuesday training! Four games – twice we got stomped, one game we won and played well and the last game we lost again. Well, it was one of this days were not much worked out and we misplayed individually. Therefore, we made the first two games unwinnable. I pointed out already that I have a passion for playing too aggressive, but this time around Marlon tunnel visioned in midlane and the enemy Kha’ziks and Katarina punished him for it. Günni had problems finding a good gank and since mid was under pressure 24/7 and Marlon did not play save, but kept on fighting he had to walk from top to bot and back again and as a result he got behind as well. While Marlon got camped and stayed to aggressive we had little chances to comeback. But I guess we all know the feeling when we get camped and want to make up for it and end up feeding. Something we all must erase from our mindset. We are one unit, so we have to act as one. It sucks to tower hug, but as a 5 men squad it is the way to get back into the game. The second game was similar, but this time around it was me. I played Shen into Gnar and the Gnar outtraded me from minute one. I have improved to the point, that I fall back and farm under the tower, but I overstayed my welcome twice and therefore gave two kills to my opponent. From that point on he was ahead and could do what every he liked. The best play would have been to surrender my tower and try to make plays with my team. Günni was far ahead and we could have coordinate tower dives Botlane to get our Botlane ahead and trade towers, but I stayed top and tried to hold my lane and therefore Gnar got bigger and bigger. He transferred his lead to the other lanes and we could not stop the snowballing. The third game we good, the communication was back to the way it should beand with good rotations we managed to pull out a clear win. The last game of the day was like a roller-coaster ride. We got behind in the beginning, but pulled back into the driver seat. At the point when everything worked out for us we started to wander around the map alone and pick after pick our opponents took over the lead again and finished. In addition, our team combo was no match for theirs. They had a good frontline to protect their Vayne and she did the damage they needed. I really want to point out that our Botlane played very solid in all four games and if we would have played around Botlane more I guess we could have turned around at least one of the loses. Okay since we want to improve we came up with a plan we are going to execute. We discussed our preferred playstyle and agreed on playing team combs build around team fighting. Therefore, everyone choosing two champions and is going to pick one of them in every game. It is not the most fun way, but our goal is to get comfortable in the playstyle. We want to play the same style over and over again to understand when to engage, when to take a fight, when to surrender a tower and when to back up. Playing a team fight combo means sometime to just lean back and wait out the laning phase in order to fight back and out scale mid to late. I am excited for our session tomorrow! If you want to get a notification when a new blog post is online just click the subscribe button and leave your mail-address. You will receive a mail when ever a new post is online 😊 Or follow me on Instagram! I am out for today! See you tomorrow Best Derd Lets start with our first game. You can see the overview of the game above. We played the same team style we also played the last times. Me as the splitpusher and tank on the Toplane as Shen versus a Ryze. Warwick as a good ganker in the jungle, but he also fulfils the role of an offtank. Günni faced a jungle Fizz. Time4Pain played Viktor in the Midlane versus Zed and Kiwi and Kim choose Miss Fortune and Zilean versus Tristana- Blitzcrank. The MVP of this game was the enemy Zed. He started to turn the tides as he went for a Botlane gank and got a double. From that point on our Midlaner could not fight back against his opponent and when the Zed engaged, and Time used his exhause, he could not move up, because Zed could just kill him when his Ultimate would be off cooldown. But we hang in the game and did good fights and tried to create picks or at least trade objective. While Zed was really the turning point until approximately minute 25, Tristana and Ryze would take over from there. The mid to late game dmg of Ryze and Tristana in combination with this strong assassin were to much for us to hand in fights and therefore we started to lose more and more ground. We did well as we manovered around in the early to mid-game, but we could not teamfight against their team. We should have used our splitpush advantages more, since Viktor has a good wave clear and with Zilean it is hard to dive under the tower, but we were as a team to aggressive and went to far up. As a result, we had to fight in the open and their combo was just much stronger there. The second game: Okay the second game. I do not know how to start since I really was pissed about this game and the way it developed. And the way it developed was all our fault. As you can see we acquired a large gold lead with 10k at around 25 minutes and then we started to do stupid things. While we played save and controlled in the beginning and got two inhibs as well as 1,5 Nexus. From there on we start to greed for kills, walk alone in the jungle, did not make clear calls for an objective and just walked around doing everything to lose the game. As we decided to focus again it was already to late. The enemy’s team combo was very strong in team fights with a lot of hard cc and also two silences. In addition Malzahar, Xin and Fiddle scale good into the late game and therefore fighting was now a hard task. Besides these factors our fighting approach was not really good. Fiddle good his ult out every fight and we could not peel for Kim in anyway. When I take a look at the team combo we drafted I guess Soraka was not the best pick for our combo since she offers limited peel potential and the likes of Janna would have been better. Our whole team besides MF wanted to jump in and we cannot protect her in the fights. Another option would have been a Shen or Gnar Toplane since they offer more peeling potential while Malphite has the ult and then is pretty much useless afterwards. At the end we managed to take all three inhibs and while we lost the fight our minions took down the last nexus turret and all our lanes were pushed so they could not finish themselves. As we were all back alive we went as a three men group Botlane and Hecarim and Kassadin stayed in the fog of war. As we saw an opening we went for the xPeke and finished the game. While it was a pretty thrilling game I would have wished that we transfer our lead into a much more controlled game. As a spectator you would say what a game in a enthusiastic way, but as a team captain I say what a game in a worried manner.
Greetings!
Okay today I rewatched our three games from our training session for my game analysis. I wanted to take our lose and look why we lost since it felt like we were far ahead and should have won the game easily. But while I watched the game I notice we never been in the driver seat. The biggest factors for the lose were that we on the one hand tried to make individual plays and therefore got caught, but on the other hand the decisions we made were poor. In the end someone our team combo could not kill their tanks and therefore we lost a fight and they finished. So it was more a comb problem than situations I could analyse. Nothing to really pin point. Since the game was not very spectacular, I analyzed our first game, because our communication was on point and we made good calls. Lets go to the video :P CLICK ME I hope you enjoy and hopefully next Sunday I have better material to show you guys :P Best Derd 😊 |
